I know we have discussed hidden compartments in furniture and small boxes but has anyone built hidden compartments behind paneled walls? If so how did you engineer it?

Hello,
What do you know about the 5mic dust collector bags?
Thanks!

Dogger -
Absolutely nothing. I just use the stock bags that came with my DC. My DC is outside, so stock bags are OK for my setup. I have the Delta 1200 CFM, 1.5HP DC running on 220.

Jim,
I designed an entertainment center which 50% stored LP's. An LP is roughly 12" X 12" but the entertainment center was 26" deep so of instead of wasting the space behind the records I installed sliding panels. So unless you knew the back was removable the average person would never guess that the hidden space was even there/usable space. What do you think? MSD
PS If you need to use a hinge Boss makes invisible hinges.
Tom,
Have you checked out Sam Maloof's rocking chair. I have only seen pictures of it and the chair is beautiful. I'm sure Sam Maloof will inspire you. Good luck!
A hinge will not work because it would take all the space behind the panel to swing the panel open. It can't slide to the side because it would slide into the next room. through that wall. it will be in a corner. We are thinking of it sliding up and in. But the exact mechanism is in question. The panel needs to avoid the frame surrounding it. It needs to go into place and be able to be lifted without a handle. Thanks Jim F.
Could you some how use a garage door opener or some simular mech.
