Liquid hide glue is useful for glue-ups in which a long open time is required, it's useful for vacuum press veneering and it's used in the painting world to achieve a crackled finish.
Liquid hide glue is regular hide glue with urea added so the gel point is below room temperature. Gelling occurs because of loss of moisture rather than cooling.
Hide glues are transparent to most stains and finishes so bleed through is not an issue. Hide glues are reversible and repairable so they are the first choice for furniture intended to be around for a very long time.
