I’m a fan of the Brusso JB-style stop hinges. There are many installation guides available, but I’ve yet to find criteria for sizing. Accordingly, I’m likely tending to oversize. Any rules of thumb to share?

I looked them up on the Brusso website. Each hinge has a "view dimension" tab at the bottom of the description. Sure enough, all the dimensions are there.
Hello Blake:
Thanks for your reply. To clarify, I’m looking to select the hinge best suited fit the size or weight of the box/lid. I’ll use the 1-1/4” (JB 102) hinge for example when the smaller 3/4” may be adequate.
