Hello people, I am trying to get a hang of the hinge hardware. I know what a 1/2 and full overlay hinge is when it is a normal style cabinet door. But I have a horizontal cabinet door that is 1 inch bigger all around from the cabinet opening. Example, opening 36″wide x 12″ high, so the door is 38″ x 14″. Because the door has that 1 inch overlay I am not sure which frameless hinge would work with this setup. If anyone could suggest a euro style faceless hinge that would be great. I would even take some help understanding how to pick this correctly please. Thank you.

Are we to assume the case was made with 3/4" material. You also mention horizontal cabinet does that mean you intend to have a single lift up door? If so do you intend to have props?
It isn't really a cabinet so there is no casing. It is a built-in so the entire face of the opening is flat. there is just an opening in the wall. Yes, a single lift up door, I will be putting 3 hinges on it and drop-down supports on the sides to support the weight since the door will have a glass insert.
Your response created additional questions. Since it is not a cabinet, but an opening in the wall I'm not sure what you mean by the entire face is flat. There are different hinges used for face frame cabinets which have a lip between the side panels and face frames versus euro style cabinets which have no face and the hinges mount directly on the cabinet sides.
One thing I will say is if you are using props avoid softclose hinges. You may want to look at hinge systems like Blums Aventis HK-S which are hinges with props built in but these systems are designed for use in euro style construction, although you could always built out the side panels to make them flush if need be. I would need a picture or a decent drawing to make a better recommendation for you or a clear understanding if there is a lip or not between the face and top and side panels.
I'm not sure what you mean by a "frameless" hinge, but if you mean a euro-style cup hinge I would start by looking at those meant for extra clearance at the inside corners of kitchens. Even so you might have to do some adapting, that is a large overlay.
I've never seen a cup hinge meant for more than a 3/4 overlay but maybe countersinking the mounting plate 1/4" into the cabinet interior would get you there? You would drill the door as though it were a 3/4" overlay.
You could also find success by bending one leaf of a traditional strap hinge.
My go to for hinges is Horton Brasses. Having said that, I use them for traditional hinges so not sure what, if anything, they would carry for a Euro type hinge Might be worth giving them a call. I've found them to be very helpful in general.
You can use metal hinges on the box, but I prefer to make my own out of the woods I’m using. You can use scrap wood to make them, and it’s just a few more cuts with the scroll saw. But it’s worth it to have perfectly matching hinges for your box!

What do you exactly mean when you say frameless hinge?
