Okay, all vanity aside… does anybody know a good site (or brand name) where I can have some prescription ANSI goggles made that I can accidently wear out in public if I have to? Something cool, hip, modern. Something hot-rod. I like the ones J. Rusten is wearing on his site. www.jrusten.com
I haven’t had much luck with my local eyeglass shops.
My problem is that I have poor vision and cannot wear contacts, so I can’t wear regular safety goggles. I do have a face shield, but it’s cumbersome and not right there when I need it. My regular glasses take a beating sometimes and I’d like to give them a break.

After pursuing this for over 20 years in one form or the other, I have given up.
Sunglasses, safety glasses, swim goggles, dust masks, are all either impossible, or too pricey. And with my vision, I have no choice, I have to wear glasses or contacts.
I have my laser surgery this Friday. I am overwhelmed by the prospect of being able to see my own feet in the shower. Wish me luck.

I would try the ZZ-TOPS Beard!
HA! That's a good face-shield alternative! Plenty of padding, but too much in the dust collection department my man.I guess they'd tell me to get some cheap sunglasses. DADAH-DAH-DAH-DO DAH-DAH-DAH...DADAH-DAH-DO DAH!

Thanks for the links. It's usually as simple as typing in http://www.BLANK and getting what you're looking for! I've ordered a few pairs since they were so cheap. Hopefully my optometrist can put my prescription in one or two of them. Thanks again.
Deluth Trading list them in their catalog, although haven't checked their ANSI rating.

Sometime,
I have reviewed your profile, and after some consideration, do recommend the X factor model 05, as detailed in that site that Dustin came up with.
Well these may not have the same ANSI rating as work glasses... but I don't know they might. Oakley!! I am a cyclist and The Oakly M-frames are the creme del la creme. There is no better performance oriented protective eyeware on the market. The are offered in at least 6 lens shapes ranging from the pro wrestler to the Tiger woods look. There are many coatings (including clear) and they offer them in perscription. they are anti fogging, scratch resistant, non distorting, heck their optics are finished to a higher standard than perscription. And yes they are certiantly cool. The only draw back is that they will cost you about $200 in a percription. Again check out the ANSI ratings... I would not hesitate for a minute to use them in my shop. I however use the cheepest I can find, and toss them when the scratches geet too bad.

You don't mention your prescription or if you are a prespiopic (sorry for the spelling). Contact your eye care professional and ask for polycarbonate lenses and pick a frame. If you are prespiopic then I would reccomend Definity. My company made them until the company was sold to essilor. Good luck.
Well, its not quite the solution you're looking for, but as I posted earlier, I had Laser vision correction 2 days ago, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who's suitable for the procedure.
I've gone from 20/400 (damn near blind) vision to 20/15. (a little better than 20/20)
While it's not the cheapest way to go for a one-time payment, I figure the cost will be substantially less than my prescription glasses, sunglasses, and even safety glasses over the next 40 years or so.
I have had absolutely no luck in the past with safety glasses for myopic prescriptions (nearsighted). The only realistic options i've seen are the racquetball-type goggles that they sell (the kind Kareem Abdu Jabbar used to wear) and can be fitted with prescription lenses. Not a small investment when it's done, and not really "hip". But effective for both impact and dust.
Best of luck however you go.
