Hitachi Drill Press or other recs
Hello all-
I’m in need of a new drill press for less than $400. Being in a fairly small town, Lowes is about the only thing that I have access to. I’ve considered the Delta 400 model but saw the comparable Hitachi model as well. Any thoughts? I’ll drive if necessary.
Thanks.

AGSanders,
Take a look at the Delta 17-965 or DP400 before you buy...
Almost 5" of spindle travel, a functional depth gauge and plenty of power. Both are usually available for less than $350 if you catch the right sale or promo deal.
Hope this helps,

I bought one of those a couple weeks ago actually. After making a table to fit over the one it comes with (much handier for woodworking), I've used it several times and have been pleased with the operation so far. The laser finder actually seems pretty close but as an 'older guy' I still line things up the old fashioned way so I'm not sure of the utility of it. Kinda wizzy though.
FWIW, I'm happy so far. Easy to assemble by the way. Good luck!
