Hi All,
New here and have a question about a recently purchased Hitachi F-1000A. I have torn it down and built it back up with new bearings, drive belts, etc. The jointer works great. The planer portion, however, is being somewhat of a pain. I used the factory blade setters and it seems to me those have set the blades to deep in the head. It doesn’t take any wood off when feeding into the planer. If I raise the table high enough to remove any surface the piece gets stopped before reching the outfeed roller. There looks to be a cast bar just past the planer head that would make sure the piece does not kick up into the blades once past, but it is lower than the knives and planer head. Any advice or wisdom on this machine would be greatly apperciated.
Thanks,
Pete

Did you engage the cutter blade barrel lock in one of the 2 detents. It is on the left side of the machine and make sure the blades are at TDC. Make sure that when you are done you turn the L-shaped rod 90 degrees to unlock the detent. If you do not you will do some damage to the planer. Also the setting gages should be set on the machined steel plates for a correct height setting. One last tip insert the four outer bolts and and tighten slightly. Release the barrel detent and install all the bolts and tighten in small steps until you reach final torque, five or six steps in sequence is OK. I have the P100F planer and it is a great planer. It is the same as what you have but without the jointer.
