I have a Hitachi M12V mounted in a router table. When first turned on,the motor comes up to speed. When the work piece is presented to the bit, the motor rpms increase noticably (not decrease as one would expect). After running for 5 or 10 minutes, the rpms stay constant.
Anyone had this problem. Is it serious? Is is ‘fixable’. Thanks
in advance for any thoughts on this phenomena.

I have had a M12V in a table for 3+ years and have not seen that behavior yet. Sorry I cannot be of any help. How old is the router. How long have you seen this happening?
John
The M12V has been in a table for about 5 years, and is the same age. This behavior has been happening for the last couple of months. The
router is in a semi-production shop where we make cabinets for Habitat
for Humanity houses. We use it to round over the edges of doors and
drawers. It has seen several thousand linear feet of red oak. May
be time for a new router.
Sounds like you got a lot of good service out of the unit. The M12V is still the best bang for the buck, I think
Does that router have the electronic speed control that compensates for a load?
Yes it does. I've tried blowing out the 'innards' with compressed air,
but that didn't help.
