II bought a Hitachi M12V. I have not put it in the Industrio table I have yet, but would like to know if anyone feels they have you ever wanted the collet to be extended in this router when installed in a router table? |

With an offset wrench from http://www.sommerfeldtools.com/, you can change bits from above the table. That should eliminate the need for a collet extender. I believe Mark Sommerfeld uses the M12V in his Industrio table.
I guess I am not making myself clear, because a couple of people have answered the wrong question.
I also have a bent wrench for my Dewalt and it works well. My problem is that the BIT does not extend above the table far enough, not that the nut is not exposed. My question is: Does the M12V solve that problem WITHOUT the use of an extension to the shaft. Does it put the router bit up high enough for all uses. Sometimes the lower parts of the bit in my Dewalt do not even touch the wood.
The simple answer is no. There are a few routers out that extend above the table for easy bit changes, but sadly, most do not incorporate that wonderful feature....seems logical enough doesn't it?
I have the same router, with an extension, mounted in a table. I have not tried *without* the extension, but with it, the issue I have is that the bit doesn't go *low* enough. That's probably an easier problem to fix though.
I went ahead and put the M12V into the table. No doubt about it, it appears to be a better router table router than the Dewalt 625. It extends 0.4 to 0.5 more above the Dewalt router. It also immediately releases the bit instead of having to undo the collet nut a few more turns.
I did not install the Router Raizer I used with the DW625 in the M12V. The M12V came with an extended lift knob that was pretty nice. I am not sure I want to bother with the Router Raizer. I would have to rotate the router 180 degrees from its present position to get the Router Raizer knob to the front, anyway. In doing that, I would have the collet lock actuator in the rear and have it in an inconvenient position. I don't really want to put the 1/4" rod on the extension like I have seen some people do. I think my $125 investment was a very good one.
