I’ve been shopping for a new router for my table. I ran across a Hitachi 3 1/2 HP Variable-speed that looked decent. It will be used as a fixed-base for raised panel doors, mouldings, etc. Has anyone used this one, and if you have, any comments? Thanks, in advance.

I have had one mounted in my router table for about 4 years now and it has been a very good tool, quite reasonably priced and so far trouble-free
I don't have the variable speed model but the older single speed, and for the work I do I wouldn't exchange it for any other. I work with a lot of recycled wood, and a lot of it is rock hard. No other router I have used has provided the same results, and when stepping down or up depending on perspective, to new wood it works even better. For an all around machine, it's the best IMHO.
Thanks for the returns. I'd rather get the scoop from those who use it than an article.
