hello. I just bought a holdfast. (woodcraft). (wow they’re expensive).
I drilled a hole 1/16 oversized, and can not get a descednt amount of pressure. Any movement side to side destroyes the clamping force. Any ideas?
thanks

Hi,
Couple of thoughts. First you drilled too large for the holdfast to bite in. Redrill or more likely rout for an even larger hole and glue in a bushing to this hole. The holdfast has to fit the ID on that bushing then for it to hold tight.
Or inlay a piece of steel into your bench top [steel is dangerous on a bench top so be aware, you could try brass but it's gonna dent up fast I think] that is the right size for the holdfast.
You just need to make a smaller hole so the holdfast bites into a larger area. Good luck.
