I’ve made some tools to hollow out vessels like weed pots on the lathe. They work well at hollowing. But, there’s one thing I haven’t figured out yet: How do you smooth the bottom-inside of the hollowed vessel?

Mike,
There's a product sold in resturaunt supply stores
that resembles a black brick composed of 'friable' abrasive foam,
In use, it acts like sand paper and will wear
as it sands and will take the shape of
the concavity of the bowl.
Sold in bags of six (very affordable) Used in commercial kitchens to clean pots/pans hot plates grilles etc. Steinmetz
Is that like the black LAVA Blocks?
Will,
Yes, I believe so, but large.
( Almost brick size.) Easilly cut to smaller size. ED.
