Has anyone ever heard of “holy wood” from <!—-> <!—-><!—->Brazil <!—-><!—-> (possibly Bursera graveolens)? A friend of mine lives in <!—-> <!—->Brazil<!—-> <!—-> and gave me a piece that he cut off his property. It is has closed grain and is extremely dense, dark brown and has a strange tight rippled grain pattern. He told me that it was supposed to be the hardest wood in <!—-><!—->Brazil <!—-><!—->. I can’t find any info on it online and was wondering if anyone has experience with it. Seems to machine / resaw alright, but I wonder what it’ll do to my blades over the course of a project. <!—-><!—-><!—->

Maybe something with the "santos" appelation. Santos isn't really "holy" but in the divine field I reckon. There's still lots of undiscovered species in Brazil - could be soemthing new.
Nathan,
In Spanish, it is called Palo Santo, or "Holy Wood". Here's a little of what I found. Hope this helps.
