Does anyone out there either know how to make or can refer me to information on how to make a small kiln? Something around 10′ long, 3′ deep and say 8′ high. I’m fairly new to woodworking (couple years) and I have access to green wood and would like to try drying both with and without a kiln. I’m air drying some now and haven’t reached the 12% to 14% I’m waiting for (I’m in Hawaii). I plan to use this wood mainly for small items like clocks, frames, and maybe some musical instruments.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Book #1 of Fine Woodworking Techniques has a design for a solar kiln-lots of sun in Hawai, and a kiln for 500bd feet-a small one.
Thanks Philip. I'll see if I can get my hands on a copy.
Try these links: oregonstate.edu/solarkiln/ kilndirect.com valuecreatedreview.com (kilning links)
You can find a lot of plans for solar kilns here.

Thanks all! I'll definately check these links out.
Might consider hooking your shed up to one of these to kick a fan on and off as needed especially in the first couple of months or so.

Thanks for the recommendation. I saw the link and googled to find this at about $110. Does that sound right? Anyway, I need to study this all out before I act.
Thanks
