I’ve seen these videos on the home page for a while, and decided to try an watch them. For some reason I can’t seem to get them to work. As far as I know I’m not doing anything wrong. While downlading, they just go on and on with no info on remaining time, file size and remaining megs to download, etc. Anyone else have problems with these things?????? thanks

Don,
Try using Realtime rather than Quicktime. I can't get Quicktime to work there. (Can't open a lot of the links either.)

Jeff,
I have tried both pieces of software with little success. The only file I could see was on how to square up your sled a couple months ago. My guess is the server supporting the link is the problem.
BG,
The only thing I can think of doing is to try to download the player software again. I download the files with "Fresh Download" (seems more stable than DAP) then have the choice to play immediately, or save the file.
The player I'm using now is "RealOne Player".
I think there is a bit of a stability problem with the server on the main site as well as this one. Half the time it doesn't "remember" that I've signed in changes categories in the messages by itself.... SPOOKY!!!!

I've reloaded realtime and it works better, but still has some problems. Maybe Tim could look into this or offer some advice. thanks.
Don.
Don,
I know a while back we switched the videos to a faster server (ha!) and here at Taunton with my mega-wumpa-wumpa speedy connection, I have no problem seeing them (QT or Real). I've tried them at home at my "might-as-well-just-go-have-dinner-while-this-downloads" connection and have still got it to work--but with a boatload of waiting.
So, with all that said, I'll ask our video guy Gary Junken to check into it and offer some advice.

Tim,
I've reloaded real player on both computers at home and the one in the shop. They are all working now to some extent. Since it was originally loaded I've gone to cable modems which I had to select while reloading. I assume that was the problem with my original configuration. The first 5 to 10 seconds of every video is distorted, but then it straightens out and works fine. So there are no real problems anymore. Thanks for thoughts and efforts.

I have a DSL connection and have had challenges as well. My best luck comes when I right-click and select "save target as"....and direct to my hard drive. Then it downloads the whole video..I then watch it in "real time" versus "download time". PLUS, if you like the video, you can save it!
Good luck!
