THANKS BG, WILL CK OUT SITE
CHECKED OUT SITE. GREAT RESOURCE. NOW TO CHOOSE WHICH BENCH. THANKS AGAIN
rxp,
When choosing the workbench design, I took great solace in Bob's (Bob's Workbench)comments..."you'll probably build 5 over a lifetime"...all of a sudden not such an earth shattering decision...
My bench tops are SOLID core fire rated doors. I got them free from a dumpster at a door installation business. I asked the company for permission and advice about the best type of door for use as a bench top. The one I got was huge. It used to be the entrance door to a movie theatre. They stay dead flat and can be cut to any size. I covered the surface with tempered masonite. It glued in only a few areas. Whenever it starts looking shabby, I remove it and glue on another new sheet. Waxing without buffing the masonite prevents glue from sticking. I use an aersol spray wax called Topcote. this product is designed for woodworking machine surfaces. It doesn't contain anyting that might contaminate finishes.
Now got to the Yellow Pages and look up door installation companies in your area.
DON, THANKS FOR THE INPUT. WILL CK OUT. RXP
