What are they made of?
mark
Measure it with a micrometer, mark it with chalk, cut it with an ax.
these are 17" ID, wood (not sure of species). may be willing to go w/ brass or chrome if cannot find wood. Would prefer to stay w/ wood tho.
Java,
I've checked around a little and can't see anyplace to get rings like you describe. If you try to get them custom made, the cost could be kinda high. You could make them yourself with a router. Glue up some strips of whatever wood matches the chair (could even be a contrasting wood, I suppose) into a four-sided frame. Reinforce the joints with biscuits or a spline. Use a trammel on the router to route the outer and inner diameters; then use a roundover bit to finish the shaping.
