I’ve been looking for cabinet harware for a hoosier cabinet I’m making. I have checked the following. “restoration hardware”, “lee valley”, “woodcraft”, “woodworkers hardware”, and “van dykes restorers”. All seemed to be in the 4 to 6 dollar price range and all were polished brass. I wanted antique brass, but finally settled on some stuff from van dykes.
I was unhappy with the quality. The hinges weren’t too bad, but the latches were thin and the handles felt like they could cut you.
All of the other stuff I found at other suppliers was in the same price range, so probably of about the same quality.
Does anyone know of a good period hardware supplier?

I haven't seen antique brass but it's easy to make new brass look old. The better hardware manufacturers like Ball & Ball don't make Hoosier parts. I think a lot of this type hardware is imported from India, crude castings and not much detail. There are quite a few places that specialize in Hoosier restoration parts and supplies.

Beat it to fit / Paint it to match
Thanks for the info. Their quality seems to be in the same neighborhood, but they do have a good selection.
