I am making a suggestion for a new folder idea. How about a tool review section that is set up similar to review section that is on Amazon.com. I am thinking something that can continually be added to and won’t be lost in the archives. Maybe organized by manufactures i.e. Delta/table saws/cabinet saws or Jby tool i.e. table saws/contractor saws… I think it would be nice be able to look and compare vaious tool reviews that are out there.
It just seems that having a way to organize reviews from as many users as there are on this forum would be valuable. Maybe even link the FFW magazine review results! Maybe I’m too late since this site has already been re-worked.

great idea! I've had a lot of trouble finding info on tools.
"I've had a lot of trouble finding info on tools." This is something that should become easier to do when the redesign is finished. Thought it'll never be easy-easy. Just thought I'd give you some hope, LOL. Problem right now is that the search doesn't go across the 6 forums.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Aaaron-that is a superb proposition. The management should definitely look into this. There are more than a few well qualified INDEPENDENT (read impartial) individuals on the planet who can constructively review the things we like-from hand tools to machines, mass made to individually crafted. Evidence of that can be seen on the web.
What we don't want is some turkey giving a shallow opinion, sprinkled with statements like "the colour was not to my liking".
How long are we going to allow for some action to be taken?
I think it's a worthwhile idea. If an Amazon-like review was here, I'd contribute, although I never review a tool for Amazon. The pooled experience of people here could be a great help if it's organized in a way that you can quickly get the review you need.

Hi Aaronb,
I'm so glad you suggested this because it is exactly what we have done with FineWoodworkingNetwork.com's free Tool Guide.
We host an online database with more than 500 product reviews and we are adding new tools to it every month. Even better, you can post ratings and reviews for the tools you own with the "You Rate It" feature.
I encourage everyone to start posting reviews. Since we launched it there have been some great reviews by your fellow community members. For example, six people have already reviewed Lie-Nielsen's low-angle block plane (follow the link below).

To find a specific tool or compare several tools in a category, use the category drop down lists (Hand Tools, Power Tools, Machinery...) located at the top of the screen. And alawys feel free to post here in in Knots if you have questions about using the Tool Guide.

Matt,
Just my luck, my million dollar idea one day too late, now I know how poor Al Gore felt after he invented the internet (LOL).
That site looks great, anyway it could be linked and become one of the above forums selection boxes? I'm sure there was some posts about this site existing, but like many other I just didn't see it. Having it liked as a box above would probably expand people use of the review site.
Thanks
In the next few weeks, as we fix the navigation in the Knots forum, you will see a link to the Tool Guide from within the forums. Hopefully that will get more people using it to read and post reviews.
