How did they connect legs to top without an apron?
I like the simple elegance of the desk in the attached photo, and want to do something similar.
But I’m not sure how they attached the front legs to the top. A simple mortice and tenon seems insufficient, maybe they just used a leg bolt? Any thoughts appreciated!

Not very well
It could be dowels, mortice and tenon, a bolt, a bracket, or some funky japanese joinery. No matter how they did it, I can't imagine the front legs would have much side to side racking strength. That is a whole lot of leverage on what can only be a small joint.
For me, the table would either need to see minimal use, or an apron or stretcher should be added (or better yet both). Of course, everything I build has to survive 3 boys and two dogs.
