I have some Gran. hide glue and I am wondering how do I prepare it. Is it as simple as just putting it in the double boiler, or do I add water to the glue. I have never used it before.
Thanks Guys Jack

You do have to add water. Equal volumes of water and glue is one recommendation. Add water, let it soak for a while, and then heat. You want it to be at the consistency of syrup. Better than a double boiler is a crock pot, available from thrift stores for less than $10. A little water, around a smaller jar to hold the glue, has worked well for me. Temperatures should be around 140° to 160°.
