I just tried to read a discussion thread at the Washington Post web site and found out they use the exact same software — and apparently the exact same hardware — as Knots Forum. Not only did the software look the same on the front end (except for blue highlighting instead of brown), but I was already logged in with my Knots Forum user ID. I guess the two forums (and probably others) are running on the same server somewhere. Probably doesn’t make a difference, but you’d think there would be security to prevent it from happening.

The About.com forums are also the same, and logging in to About.com works here, too.
Thumbrule,
You are correct in that the Knots forum is part of the Prospero forums network, as far as your "security" is concerned you should feel completely safe in that any information that you provided us during registration or otherwise, is not available to any other forum administrators. Your login is the only "cross forum" information and is actually stored in your cookie which is the reason that the other forums "recognize" you.
If you have other questions or concerns please feel free to email me and I will answer any questions you have.
