I am in awe of how trees write their testaments at this time of year! Gathering up life itself and now just telling tales, one by one. Here are the leaves of my favorite wood. Anyone else with fall pics out there?
Have a great Thanksgiving everyone! ..Pike..

Hi Pike:
Mine is over and everything is bright and white.(gottta luv it can't move!) <g>
Autumn is special to me because of all the warm colors and especially the smell. ( Heaven must smell like maple grove in autumn)
your pics says it all

We raked leaves on Monday, and the maples leaves were HUGE! We don't get the bright orange-red maples leaves like the eastern climes do, but they're still impressive.
One of my favorite fall Puget Sound foliages is the blueberry bush. The leaves are very small, but turn that firey red that is so eye-catching. The color's mostly gone now, and everything's dripping wet, so no pics to share. If we get snow this winter, I'll snap a couple then.
forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
I agree with you about autumn being a beautiful time of year but the older I get I can't really say that I care for the season that comes next its beautiful to look at but its a real good thing I dont have far to go to get from the house to the shop and I keep them both real warm. Have a safe and warm fall and winter season.

Fall is my favorite season, too. I've got to admit that one reason I fell in love with the town of Fujino from the very first was the lovely colors presented by the mountains; not as showy as Vermont or the reds seen Kyoto's temple gardens, but still quite an improvement over the concrete jungle of next-door Tokyo. These shots were all taken within five-minutes' walk of our house

Norm, thank you for the excellent pics and informative website link to Fugino, Japan. What a nice place to be! Little do you know we have much in common with Asian art and concepts. I would like to talk you about your experiences concerning the differences between penjing and bonsai grown trees sometime! Even if the thread gets put into the garden section I won't leave you hanging. Furniture styles would be good to.
4333, this is a weird and wild connection with your comment about maple. I included a pic for you..43 ::twilight theme plays:: Is their any other tree with leaves, that is as quite as a maple.
Forest girl, please snap those pics this winter! I don't log on to much but I will keep an eye out for your post! Azalea's turn bright red also, does this pic look anything like your favorite?- I've never seen one.
Doc, I recently read an article you may be interested in. John Burroughs writes, we work. If he could work, I could write. Enjoy the emerson. :)
Again, everyone have a good Thanksgiving...Pike..
Thanks for the Burroughs reference. Reminds me of Whitman. I had also forgotten his connection to the Arts & Crafts movement, but the ideas certainly appear amiable.
Looks like our fall colors will hit their peak this weekend; I'll have to take the dog for a walk over the mountain and take some more photos.
