Have been searching for some time for a method, or procedure to stain a new piece of pine furniture and make it look old. Seems there is a way, but I cannot find instructions anywhere. I am also looking for Minwax Gel, which can no longer be purchased in Nova Scotia. Appreciate any help. Tks, E. Garland.

We use a combo of dye and oil stains. Then we glaze w a raw umber oil glaze and wipe heavily. If distressing is desired, this should be done first. Then we finish w a standard finish.
*Try a mixture of instant ice tea and vinegar, mix and rub on to surface. It will not only stain but the chemical action will also artifically age the pine. Works on most woods. It will raise the grain but imparts a nice mellow color. Allow to dry, sand lightly and finish with linseed oil and turpentine, rubbed into the pine.
