I am wanting to finish some wood with a rustic look by raising the grain in the wood. I have no idea how to achieve the look. Any ideas?

You can use a wire brush either manual or rotary, or you can burn with a torch and wire brush, or you can sandblast. Experiment until uou get the look you want.
