How to scribe a face frame for built-in
Hi,
I’m building a shelving unit in what was once a closet to look like a built-in with a face frame. The only worry I have is fitting the faceframe against the wall and being sure the inside edges of the face frame are aligned correctly. I have downloaded an article on the site that explains how to scribe but seeing is believing. do you guys have a video on how to do this? Maybe it is a good idea for a video?
Thanks,
Paul

95,
Get a piece of scrap and a compass. Use the compass to mark the outline of your doorway on the scrap. Lay the marked scrap on top of your project. Follow the line and make your cut. Perhaps leave it a little over-sized initially, and then sneak up on the perfect fit with subsequent cuts.

Thank you Gerald. I will give that a try. I also found a method in an article on the site that uses a two seperate grooves on the stile of the face frame. One is for the actual glue up and the other is offset 1/2". you use a 1/2" block to scribe the stile with it set in the offset groove. You then cut and then glue the stile using the glue up groove with your biscuits. I will check out both methods.
