How to strengthen beveled seat
I’m making a lounge chair and need a strong connection. Should I add keys to the peak (top of the chair) of the joint or through dowels from the back?
where the bevel is joined, it is about 2 in thick and 22in long. I’m curious is this is too thin for there to be much benefit from reinforcement

Couple of things. Especially when designing/building a chair- generally speaking construction/joinery details need to be in a drawing or very well considered first. By first I mean before committing the time and $ to make it. Some of your questions are not clear at least to me. "need a strong connection", "keys to the peak of the joint"??? "Where the bevel is joined"???
I’m wondering if I should add spliced/keys or dowels Where I drew the lines on the picture or if it would be strong enough on its own. The beveled edges have already been glued
Is there any "joinery" where the ends of seat side rail and the back side rail meet? Easiest thing to do would be dowels from back. I obviously dont know how seat/back is going to be joined to arm/leg - but there will be a LOT of flexion on that glue joint.
Where the red marks are will do nothing to hold the back, it has to happen where the uprights meet the sides and if not already jointed, you will need some external brace.
