I’ve had great input from this form so I would like to see how you would finish a cherry sleigh bed.
These are the givens:
1. I plan to spray the finish so oil finishes are out- brushing too.
2. I will use cherry ply for the bended parts on the head and foot frames, cherry planks which have some heart wood. No planks are wider than 4/4 (before they are planed) so glue seams need to be covered.
3. I want a rich cherry finish with visible grain.
4. I would like to finish the finish to give it a rich look.
Based on your experience what steps would you take and what should be avoided?
Looking for your ideas. be as specific as possible and feel free to make assumptions based on the above.

Jim - there are an awful lot of possibilities, especially with spray application. Take a look at the link below and try to narrow the exact look you're after, then it'll be easier to help you get the results you want.

Great link. Yours?"The child is grown / The dream is gone / And I have become / Comfortably numb " lyrics by Roger Waters
RW - thanks. I've been slowly adding to the selection for a while now.

Try the Ulta Penetrating Stains from Mohawk. They aplly very well with a sprayer. Make sue you don't apply too much at one time and wait a day before you spray you finish and it will avoid that blotchy look. Their wiping stains are grweat also , but I still prefer the Ultra stain. The wiping stain says you can apply a finish coat after 15 minutes. I have had to use their wiping stains because of the time crunch and the finsh came out beatifully. Started staining at 7:00 at night and loaded finished cabinets at 7:00 the next morning for a trade show
