I’m building some display cases for guitars. They’ll be 1′ deep, 2′ wide and 4′ high. I want to incorporate a humidifier to keep the inside of the cabinet around 40% RH. Any ideas?

I've had the same project on my list for a while. Did you design it yourself, or did you find a plan you liked somewhere?
Stan
I designed it myself. It's a pretty simple frame and panel design with glass for the panels, so bothe the front and sides can be seen. It's not fancy, but I'll send you a copy if you'd like. It's big enough to hold a jumbo 12 string.....
Have you considered contacting a guitar retailer to ask what they use?
If you can get a hold of someone at Taylor or Gibson, they might be able to tell you.
Or call the owner of a store in Minneapolis called "The Podium". Their number is 612-331-8893, according to their card that i have that is a few years old.
They specialize in acoustic instruments, and would know what would be appropriate.
(And let me know what you find out, that's a good idea, I might do that for my Taylor.
Try http://www.vigilantinc.com I'm not sure what humidity range you are looking for, but that have cabinet humidifcation devices typically used for cigars. Website says it maintains at 66-74%
Hey ChuckT,
How about using a soundhole humidifier just as you would in a guitar case. There are several kinds on the market. It would be more effective inside the guitar because the outside has a finish.
Enjoy, Roy
