Hey guys…
Just wanted to check in with all of the Florida bunch and say that if you need any help to just hollar.
I’m sure we’ll have power outages etc, but let us all know how things are when you can.

Thanks Alison, looks like we're gonna get a little wet. Here in Arcadia, looks like it will pass about 40 or 50 miles south of us, but they still don't know where it's going for sure. It doesn't look like Charley, but it could still be rough. I'll try to keep you informed as it all unfolds.
BTW, that was a real nice article on you in the Tampa Tribune.
LOL...I don't think I coulda looked grumpier or fatter in that photo...so much for vanity, but it sure was nice to get the coverage.
I'm just hoping he wind crosses the Orlando area "just so" in order to knock down the dead branches that are still hanging from the three storms that came through last year.
I just found this photo and would like to pass it on to all you "Wilma Watchers". Considering all the media hype, the storm doesn't look all that fierce.
Uggghhh - I'm away from home (Miami), but just got a message that all my fencing is down, deck was lifted up and tossed, and I have a tree on my roof. Don't know if any of the storm 'got in' or not yet. What fun to go home to! And to add insult, the tree on the roof is a Schefflera (sp? - 'umbrella') tree, not even anything I can use the wood from! (Although I think I'll make sure the power's on before I do go back - the worst part of a hurricane that you survive is the sweltering inconvenience afterward.)
At least since Andrew I've gotten access to and hooked up with city water ... when Andrew hit, I was on a well, so no power also meant no water. Work all day sawing your former trees into little pieces, then just get into bed with sawdust in the bodily crevices and ants in your hair - ugghh. After the first coupla days, the highlight of each day was slipping into a neighbor's (by then opaque olive green) pool (sharing it with with the remnants of his porch and landscaping), just to rinse off the bigger chunks before bed.
I'll be home pretty soon - will post any happy news. Sigh ...
