Peter,
Thanks again for the advice on” poly whoas”,everything worked out. Iv’e received my hvlp turbine system and have been using it with good success. I would love to take a class focused on spraying stains and topcoats. Do you teach such a class? I see you teach at the CT Valley school of woodworking. I own Andy Charron’s “Spray Finishing” and “Waterbased finishes” they are wonderful resources. But a focused class would be a tramendous help to me.I hope all is well with you, talk to you soon-Knecht

Knecht,
I don't teach a class dedicated to spraying at CVSW. They don't have a spray booth. I'll be doing one there in April that will focus on finishing a piece of furniture over a six week period.
If you want to do a private class with me in my shop at some point, get in touch and maybe we can work out t a time frame that works. Saturdays would be preferable.
Glad to hear the other problems worked out.

Peter,
I'll try you again in the spring. I have a question for you . I sprayed latex paint for the first time the other day. I added about 5 oz of water and 2oz of flotrol per paint cup. Can I thin more than that? It layed out ok but was coming off the gun in a "big and small spatter " looking pattern. The water based primer coat made me feel like THE SPRAY GEENIE, it was beutiful. I shot both with the same tip.........I have to walk up to the shop to tell you wich one that is,it was the accuspray recomendation for paint coatings. Thanks for your time.
Sincerely,
Knecht
Knecht,
It sounds like you thinned it quite a bit. Although I don't spray latex paint it sounds like that was overly thin.
It also sounds like you need to adjust your fluid setting a little bit. Without seeing anything my best guess would be to cut down the amount of fluid coming out when you pull the trigger. Back it off a little and try again. You might find the atomization of the paint to be better.
Let me know how you do.
Peter
