I have an old Wagner HVLP and I need to update, for one thing it’s just a cup gun and I am doing a lot of cabinets now and need more product (pressure pot) but there are many makes and models out there. Anybody with experience in this area?
Thanks

WMSLAT,
DeVliss and Campbell-Hausfield make decent guns, I'm not a big fan of HVLP. The main thing, IMO, is that the gun be carefully cleaned after each use. Get a decent sized oiled compressor, with a moisture bowl. Those oil-less compressor's are noisey and won't last.
If you have the time, you might try conducting a search. It more than likely will prove to be a frustrating experience though. But, might be worth the effort; there have been some very excellent discussion on guns, compressors, and boothes. Try the Tools, Finishing, and Archive folders. Since The Move, many of those folks don't drop by so much. Try looking for messages left by Dave Arbuckle, I consider his advice on spray equipment to be outstanding. Fact is, I consider his advice on anything to be outstanding.......too bad he doesn't "hang" here any more.
Any who, I gave up using spray equipment several years ago, the EPA requirements are just too expensive for me, especially since I'm just a one man operation. So, I really don't consider myself an "expert" when it comes to spray equipment. Just wanted to help in some way. Just don't get mad at me for suggesting a search, used to be a piece of cake......FWIW.

The recommendation to contact Jeff Jewitt at homesteadfinishing.com is a good one. He will help you select a system that best fits your needs and he has a number of quality systems to choose from.
Some things to consider:
1. How much air, in CFM, does your compressor supply? Some spray guns need a lot of air to work properly and some need very little. I use the Asturo, from Italy, and it only requires about 7 CFM to spray beautifully. Walcom has similar guns and other manufacturers are coming out with comparable models as well.
2. How much material do you spray in a day? a week? If you're getting into the 5 gallon a week range or better, you may want to consider a diaphram pump, two gallon pot, or air-assisted airless. If you're around a gallon a day, once or twice a week, a two quart pressure pot will work fine but you may eventually need to move into a larger system if you experience growth.
3. If you spray materials with different thicknesses (viscosity) you'll want a spray gun that offers a good selection of needle/nozzles and air-caps.
