I’m considering buying a Lemmer A928S HVLP spray gun. It does not use a turbine and has a cup, not gravity feed, which I really like, having used a DeVilbiss JGA gun for many years. Is anyone familiar with this brand (Canadian) or this gun in particular? I really love my DeVilbiss, but want to get into HVLP in the interests of the environment and my wallet.

I hope you have a big compressor if you are going to use a non-turbine HVLP.
Check out Gleem Paint website for HVLP info:

I should be OK. I have a 5 HP, 60 gallon single stage Campbell Hausfeld that delivers 11.4 cfm @ 40 psi, and 9.0 cfm @ 90 psi.
A lot of people overestimate how big of a compressor you need to spray wood finishes. Yours is more than enough. Check out this site for lots of good info on spray guns and really good prices on medium to top of the line guns.

mine runs off a 4 gal 1 1/2 hp emglo,
I run my Sata KLC-RP on a Porter-Cable pancake compressor with no problems.

there ya go. Compressor size aint a problem with the right gun :>)
I'm not familiar with Lemmer but do have a Devilbis HVLP gun amongst others. It's a gravity feed gun & like you I just rekon it's a really great gun.
As for a compressor, I find that a minimum output of 12 cu ft/min is required otherwise the compressor just busts it's guts (technical term for works too hard) on large jobs.

I currently use the Lemmer 928 HVLP gun with the gravity cup. It is a quality gun and I have had absolutely no issues with it!

My spraying consist of coating furniture with water based products using a Porter-Cable 26 gallon oil lubed compressor capable of 8.6 CFM at 40 psi. I use water filters both after the compressor and a pancake filter at the gun - never had any issues.
Because I am not spraying large volumes of product at any given time the compressor has kept up with the demands with out any issues. If I was attempting to spray out entire kitchens, then clearly a larger compressor setup would be necessary!
Lemmer's main office is in Calgary Alberta where I live and they have a good inventory of equipment and parts if necessary.
If you have any more questions please ask.
