Hello all,
I am looking to purchase a hvlp turbine unit. I have looked at several brands and have narrowed it down to a turbine air, fuji q4, and the 230 series acu-spray. Does anyone have any particilar expreience with these units. I am drawn to the fuji because of the lower decibal rating, which is important to me. They all seem to be solid units. I would be spraying regular latex paint(thinned) for mouldings around the house on top of the regular laquer and such for my woodworking.
Wants include- quality gun, ease of cleaning, ease of switching material and ablity to use smaller cups for small jobs.
thanks very much for any help!

I don't find the Accuspray 4 stage unit to be particularly noisey, but perhaps the Fuji is quieter. I love the Accspray gun: I just wish components weren't so gawd-awful expensive. I finally bit the bullet and purchased 3 additional tips and caps so I can spray anything from stains to latex. It's a amazing system. They also make an institutional version which is so quiet you could use it in a hospital, according to Compliant Spray Systems, which sells Accuspray.

Dave, thanks for the reply.
Do you find the acu spray to use quality componets, and secondly, do you have the 230 or 240 series unit?
thanks very much

The 240. It is exceptionally well made, in all respects. For what it cost, it better be! It was not a unit for the faint of wallet, if you know what I mean. I kept looking for cheaper alternatives, but wasn't thrilled with cheaper units. I finally broke down and bit the bullet. Now that I have it, I don't regret the expense, crazily priced as it was. I love the control you can get from the gun, which feels so much better in my hand than it's competitors. and of course, I got a non-bleeder. I forget the model, but I can look it up if you'd like to know.Dave
Thanks for the reply. Don't go crazy looking for the model number. From what Ive seen, they are about $1000.00 give or take a couple bucks. I will probalby go with acu spray, now have to look for the deals.
thanks again

The unit that I use is the Graco 3800. It serves me well. To change over product fast, use several cups. One for each. In what experience I've found, all the units that I've used are a pain to clean properly. But worth it. There ready to go when you are if you take care of them. I've heard alot about acuspray. All good, never used one . Thought they were cheesy. Some units are just more complicated than others to use or dial in. The newer Graco systems are solid and user friendly. As for noise levels my unit is good. Acuspray might be quieter, I don't know. But it couldn't possibly make that much difference. Make sure your gun is seperate from the cup or you'll work yourself to death. And you'll have to watch out for the sharp tilts that could cause you to stop and clean out the gun. Also, Graco is readily available for repairs and parts. Is fuji ? How long has fuji been making them ? This is the first I've heard of them. But I'am not glued to the industry.
