My old cordless drill died, and I am looking for a replacement. Any suggestions on a good value? I have a 1/2-inch corded Makita drill, but the cordless is very handy. Should I consider buying into a manufacturer’s system since I may buy other cordless tools in the future?
Pepboys and Target sell Hyundai cordless, which I know nothing about, and Harbor Freight has some no-name brands. The other name brands I can pick up at Home Depot or Lowe’s.

DryHeat,
Go with some kind of name tool brand, Hyundai? I didn't know they made tools. Start with Black and Decker, and move up the line from there. Make sure you understand warranties, etc. It has been so long since i bought anything from Harbor Freight, I can't remember what it was. If you need a reliable tool, buy a name brand, from a retailer you are familiar with. you may pay a little mroe in the beginning, but in the long run you will be happier.
Take care

I'm sorry, I thought you wanted it done the right way.
Go to Lowes and get the hitachi 14.4volt kit. 2 batts flash light and drill. Works well!
I use cordless drills daily, and have used a number of different brands. I'd say consider how much you're going to be using it and how much you want to spend. My personal prefered brands for cordless drills are Porter Cable and Bosch. DeWalt is close behind. Panasonic actually is not a bad drill, is pretty light and has long life in its batteries. Not crazy about the craftsmann brand. We purchased 7 new 18v ridgids for the scene shop this summer and killed two in less than three months. One I could be sympathetic about, but two? I'd say definitly try to get a half inch chuck. Also depending ono the drill a 14.4v may be enough power. Oh, and consider how many amp hours the batteries have. The more amp hours the longer between charges. Good luck.
