Hi, and Happy New Year! I've had really good results with an Eclipse EWWQR10 vise, quick release and good work holding a record copy about $150. There are several on line reviews, one of which is here: https://www.lumberjocks.com/reviews/3549
I hope this is of help. CHEERS!!
The Records are made overseas, and quality is way down from where it once was.
I have a Jorgensen quick release, and like it a lot.
I went through 3 quick release vises (side and tail) on my bench where the parts snapped in less than a year. In the end, I decided the quick release was not worth it and went to ordinary non quick release vises. These are holding up 15+ years later. Plus now my grandson gets to crank them.
I bought a Wood River 9" QR Vise last year...mainly because it was on sale at significant discount ($100). It has performed very well all in all...no complaints. https://www.woodcraft.com/products/woodriver-9in-quick-release-vise?via=573621f469702d06760016cd%2C576328a869702d20ec000b2f%I
I got the same one, probably during the same sale. I put big jaws on it and lined them with leather, and wow what a difference from the old one I had been using (a smaller Sears Craftsman I inherited from my dad). I’m loving it, and at $100 it was/is definitely a great value.

I have a Yost 9 in. Quick Release vise that I paid about $100 from Amazon that I'm still happy with after 2 years. The jaws need to be lined with something other than the cast Iron it comes with. Some double sided contact tape holds a thin oak liner in place.
Bought a 12 inch Record in 1974 in toronto, added a 2 inch thick by 24 maple face and proceeded to make over 200 pieces of furniture.Look for a old used one on Ebay etc and grab it
I have over 2 dozen of the Czech quick release vises from Lee Valley at work in our shop. About a dozen each of the large and small sizes. They have been in our new shop almost 8 years. No critical breakages.
They work nicely, open and close smoothly. Minimal slop. If a bunch of high school kids can't kill them you will be fine too. My only design complaint is that the handles are a little long, so I cut them down.
The only thing I have ever had to replace are the cross pins holding the screw to the handle assembly. It only breaks because big teenagers try to crank the vises down as hard as they can. That pin is about 6mm and it breaks before the threads of the screw. I just replace them with bolts.
I have a Czech quick release vice as well as leevalleys twin screw vice on my bench and am very happy with both purchases hope this helps .cheers
