My friend Pat just purchased the 24″ omni and set it up at my shop, we will practice dove tails and will post the results. It is a big machine and i am very impressed with the quality that Port Cable has put in to it. It’s great having friends like Pat , he also parked his Jet 18″ band saw, Jet shaper & a small portable Jet dust collector in my shop, now what else do i need? more friends like Pat.

Hello , I too am interested in your findings . I have the older version of the 24" omni jig . I like the new design , for the through dovetails on this new jig I guess you just flip the template over and there are no offset measuring any more and the corners align perfectly . Please let us know , with lots of pictures . Thanks Gary
Will do Gary, this is my first time using a dovetail jig. Pat said it was approx.100 lbs. when shipped.
I started cutting through dovetails, my first test piece came out great without any adjustments. I will post a photo when and if my lovely wife lets me borrow her camera my camera broke.
Hello , that is great news , yes pictures please :) Thanks Gary
Here are some picture's this is my first time useing a dovetail jig.
That is a great start , can you tell us if the lock mechanism that holds the material in place is a good solid holding fixture ? also did you get the support bar that the router glides on so it does not tip , this is something I wish I had on mine . Keep the photos coming , even of the jig and lets us know how you like the adjustment stops for bit height , templates , Is this the 24" , my mind is going today . Thanks again Gary . I might be putting mine on the market and getting on of these . LOL
Yes it is the 24" Omni and it has the stabilizing bar, the locking clamp holds the work piece tight. This is my first time using a dovetail jig so i am not an expert, i do suggest that you also get the dust collector shroud.I will ask Pat where he purchased it he said he was able to get a rebate. Norm does an excellent demonstration of the jig.
I would suggest buying her a diamond of some sort as a bribe, but that might establish a bad precedent. ;-)
How much would it cost for an introduction to your friend Pat? I know of several things he could buy and set up at my shop. ;-)
Have fun with the Omni.
Just send me a blank check, and then hold your breath until i contact you again. This is no laughing matter, besides you can be my friend too.
Cheers, Walter
Gee, Thanks, Walter. Would a counter check from the bank be OK? ;-)
Now i know your my friend, welcome to my club. On a more serious note i have not tried the Omni jig yet, hope to get to it this week. At first i thought it was very pricey, but after seeing it, i can say the people at Port Cable have done a outstanding job with this machine. But of course the proof is in the pins & tails, next chapter.
Cheers,Walter
