it looks to be a jack plane. If it has a cuuting angle of 37-45 approx.,that's prob. what it is.it is a jack of all planes,so to speak.a smoothing plane would be longer and less degree angle.the jack will be about 12-15 inches.used for all purpose planing, jointing, some roughing. rob
well its a number 3 and its realy short so its most likely a smoothing plane but i was looking for the brand or make of the plane
Possibly a Kunz.
They made copies of Stanleys.

Hi,
It is good to see a young person here on Knots. It is good to see a young person who is so interested in woodwork. I wish you good luck in your woodworking.
However, I was put off by your writing. The title of your thread is "
i have this old plane but no idea wut kind it is. help?"
Your capitalization and spelling are not good. I don't know if you are just learning English, or if this is the way you text on your cell phone. There is an old saying, "When in Rome, do as the Romans." Now you are in Knots. Take a look at how others write. I believe you will be taken more seriously if you learn to write properly. Certainly, you will have difficulty in trying to make money at woodwork if you can't write well.
I wish you well. If I didn't, I wouldn't have taken the time to write to you.

The country stamp puts it after the McKinley Tafff Act (1892). It was also made for the US market. Lolar does not ring a bell as maker, Lollar is a town in Hess. I don't know enough German to know if that is related. The fact that is does not say West or East germany (and it is more that 20 years old) says pre war II.
Finaly ignore Mel. If your writing bugs him that is a good thing as he is the resident, self appointed agent provocataur.
Thank you every one for your help, i will look into the makers you gave me, i will also clean this plane up so it will be in good working order. I am sorry for my bad punctuation, capitalisation and spelling, that is how i write when i text so sorry. You where right that good grammar is important because it makes you look professional.I will post it how i turned out with fixing the plane up. So thank you all.
