I need plans for some plywood storage…
*
I realize these can’t be too hard to build, but I’m hoping somebody out there knows where I could go to get some plans on a nice, simple, proven design that would work well for storing some of my wood furniture. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

PETER, I BUILD AN OCCASIONAL CRATE FOR THE ART MUSEUM HERE IN INDIANAPOLIS, THEY SHIP SCULPTURE AND VARIOUS WORKS IN THEM, SO THERE PLENTY STRONG ENOUGH FOR FURNITURE. I USE 3/4 MDO SIDES W/ 1/2 TOP AND BOTTOM WRAPPED W/ 1X4 POPLAR IN A Z TYPE BUT JOINT. I WOULD BE GLAD TO SEND YOU MORE INFO AND DRAWINGS IF YOU'D LIKE. THERE SUPER STRONG AND WOULD PROBABLY FLOAT HA HA.
*Sorry about cap lock?????
*What is MDO?What is a Z-type butt joint?Thanks,Travis
*MDO is short for "Medium density overlay". It's plywood with a finish of some waterproof coating...apparently of about a medium density. It is what sign painters use for exterior signs. You can get it at a good sheet goods store, it's a little spendy, so you can save a bit of money by buying covered on one side only.As far as "Z-type butt joint" I can only assume he's wrapping the top and bottom of this construction in the 1x4 poplar, sort of a re-enforcment around the crate, and then adding a diagonal brace. These pieces are all just face nailed, or screwed, into the exterior face of the crate...similar to what you might see as bracing on the back of a wooden gate.Good luck.
Jim,
I would appreciate any help and drawings you could supply about the crates etc. I have some furniture and other items that I want to ship and if you have done it before your experience would help a lot.
Terry
