Last week I found a few tools at a garage sale. (No, I won’t go into details.) Among the items I purchased was an unused Freud blade. I went to the Freud website but could not find this blade listed, so… who can help me??
Freud No. TK306. Printed on the blade is: 10″ Finishing 40 teeth Thin Kerf 5/8″bore Laser cut. The teeth appear to be flat ground.
Yes, I know it will fit my saw and I’m sure it will do a great job, but what was it SPECIFICALLY designed for (do best??). Also, since there was a LOT of dust on the package, just for laughs, I’d like to know when it was discontinued or dropped from the line??
Thanks, SawdustSteve

It was the predecesor of the current LU86R10. The TK 3** series was from 4 or 5 years back I believe as I have one in 50 tooth. The 40 and 50 tooth was a combo blade.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the TK306 line has been renamed the "Avanti" series, and is not related to the LU86 except by brand. The LU86 is part of their Industrial series which is the next step up. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000223NY/104-7644485-9915142?v=glance&n=228013

Thanks for monitoring Knots!
A bad day woodworking is better than a good day working -- yes, I'm retired!
Steve,
The TK306 is still being produced. They were changed from flat grind to ATB about 5 or 6 years ago so it is at least that old and it is a general purpose blade for woodworking or a plywood/crosscut blade for construction. Also, all of the TK series blades are now under the Avanti sub brand. Here's the web page:

Thank you all for the quick replies and... A special Thank You to Charles M for all the help you have given all of us on this board when it comes to questions about saw blades.
