Just bouught woodworking equp and and am looking to start off with shelving for the garage/woodworking room. I’m trying to get as much as I can off the floor and on the walls. Any ideas or direction would be helpfull, also am just getting back into woodworking and my experience is limited so if any one know some one in the Pocono Mountain area of PA that would be willing to help me learn that would be great. I would be willing to exchange labor for instruction.
Thanks

Consider building floor to ceiling structure out of 2 x 3 s - with 3/4 plywood shelves.

flat vs. level
Don't forget that while your garage floor may appear flat, it's not likely to be level. Thus, your design will need to account for that, so the shelves, themselves, will be level.
The floor-to-ceiling framework that Westchester suggested is a good way to resolve that issue. You might also consider bolting that framework to both the ceiling joists and the wall studs, particularly if your garage ceiling is open.
For the shelves, consider adding a stiffener strip to both the front and back edges - a 1x2 with a dado at the edge, so it can be glued to the edge of the plywood. That will help to prevent sagging over time.
I've had enough with open shelves in my shop and have been replacing them with melamine cabinets that have doors and adjustable shelves. It keeps the debris out and clutter hidden. Makes the shop feel clean and organized. Melamine is inexpensive, 12" x 8' shelving is available with the edge band already applied and 12" x 8' panels come with the shelf pin holes installed.
