Hi –
Bought this vintage industrial stool from France and a big chip of veneer was missing vs. the pictures at the sale and yet there is no veneer chip(s) in the shipping material. Que sera. I want to do a repair now and am guessing that this is (white?) oak but want to check. Made circa 1950 in France.
THANK YOU in advance!

Judging by the ray pattern, I'd say it's beech. It's a pretty common European furniture wood, especially for use in curved pieces, which it looks like this one is.
Ah, thank you! For sure it's curved/bentwood. Didn't know if its age meant anything in terms of 'what was used, when' but I will look at some bentwood veneer.
