I’m in the market for a new Jointer. I was pretty much set on a Powermatic 60B, but I’m having a hard time ignoring Grizzly’s new model G0586 (We are talking about 400 dollars difference—money that I would like to like to add to my Bandsaw budget). Does anyone know anything about this model?<!—-><!—-> <!—->

Quite honestly I think most of these 8" jointers are pretty equivalent, and many different brands even seem to come from the same factories. I'd buy on price.
FWIW, I have had a Sunhill 8" for years, never a whimper from it. The tables are true, and everything works like a champ. I think if I were to buy it again I would find a 3 knive cutterhead model instead of 4... the quality of the finish isn't any better and it's one more blade to sharpen.
"money that I would like to like to add to my Bandsaw budget" This is where Grizzly tools really pay off -- when you simply don't have to dollars to go around to the different tools you're needing. And their jointers stand up very well next to the more expensive models.
forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Do unto others as you tell them they should do unto you....
I completely agree and I'm will be looking for a highend 18" bandsaw and they don't give those away. The three I'm presently looking at start at $2,200.00.
I agree. I got the 17hd bs and the 1023 less than 2k combined. My next is the jointer.

My thoughts are similar to tangomike's. Grizzly is a very good choice, but so is Sunhill, Yorkcraft, or Bridgewood. All can and will serve you well....East coast - YC, Griz, or BW, West coast - Sunhill or Grizzly.
