My Inca 10″ jointer/planer has stopped working in the planer mode. The pulley wheels that drive the feed rollers will not keep the drive belt in tension. It works fine in the jointer mode. Is there anyone who knows someone in the general San Francisco Bay Area who can do Inca repairs. The dealer I bought it from in L A was useless.

Any good wood machine tech should be able to work on any brand machine. A truly good tech should be able to improvise on unavailable parts as well. Look in your local yellow pages under woodworking machinery and contact the service department. It might be a stretch but even a clever auto mechanic or machine shop should be able to do the repair. It's not rocket science. When I was a tech for a dealer I would work on any brand planer. If you can do one you should be able to work on any brand.

You might try spraying the drive belts with belt dressing. This has solved my belt problems in the past on my Inca 570.
Good luck, Arthur.
Arthur Thanks , but the problem is with the drive pulleys. They don't tension the belt because somehow the spring tension isn't right , so it doesn't drive the feed rollers. Those are the pulleys that you see if you remove the cover over the speed control and the basic drive, Have you experienced this problem ?. If so how did you solve it ?. Any help much appreciated.

Cabe: Did you buy it from Jesse at Eagle Tools? He's not giving you any support? Try the Inca usrs group at yahoo.
Thanks. Yes , I bought it from Jesse at Eagle and , no , he isn't being very helpful. His advice......if I can find a technician in the San Francisco area he will help him get the planer manual. That is apparently the best he can do. The direction to the Yahoo users group is a great idea , I'll try it. Thanks again.

Try running it with the cover off. I know it makes no sense, but I had the same problem, and it worked.
Would he have his technicians work on it if you sent it to him? You might try calling Woodworker Academy in Alameda. He could be a good source of referrals to technician's in SF Bay Area. Also try the SF Bay Area Woodworkers org. Those guys should have lots of useful info on techs around here.
