I just received my 1000se today from Woodpeckers and I have a question. The documentation (with pictures that don’t match the model I have) suggests that I move the fence close to the blade and zero the flip stop tape to the blade. I notice that if I get the fence close to the blade at 90, it is too close at 45. If I set the fence close to the blade at 45, it is a good distance away at 90. My question is does it matter if the fence edge is a distance away from the blade at 90. I hate the thought of zeroing the fence to shift between 45 & 90.

Bones,
I don't think it matters...and I hardly ever use the tape..except for minor adjustments. When I'm looking for accuracy (all the time) what ever I use to measure the opening..I use to set my flip-stop from the blade. Likewise, one measuring tool gets used for the other parts of the project also...
Agreeing with BG. I don't use the tape on the Incra, especially if I need something exact, because I want to use the same tape I used to measure the requirement with.
Personally, I prefer to have the gauge set close to the blade @90* since that's the vast majority of my cutting, and I want good support. If I have miters to do, I pull out the allen wrench and shift the fence. The other option would be to put on an auxilliary fence at 90*, with the Incra body set further away, and when you switch to 45* pull off the AF.
If I'm cutting anything important (e.g., not for a jig, fixture or other shop junk) I tend to use an aux fence to get zero-clearance back-up and a spiffy clean cut anyway.
Note: It's real easy to forget to relocate the gold Incra bar when you, say, go to the other side of the blade or change to a miter. I was fortunate to notice before I got too far into the fence, just have a cute little sawblade "bite" on one edge.

Thanks. I worked it both ways and I like it snugged if at 45 or 90. SO I guess I'll just skip the tape.
