dick38,
I don't own an aftermarket miter gauge, but the Febraury/March edition (Vol 27/No.157) of Woodsmith Magazine does a comparison of six miter gauges including the Incra 1000. If you can find a copy it may help with your decision.

I have the Incra 1000se. About two years, I think? In fact, I have most of the Incra stuff and find it very useful and accurate. I have NO complaints.
Ernie mentioned the Woodsmith Magazine comparison of six miter gauges. I read that just today and I tend to agree with the author that almost all do a good job. Try to read it if you can before you buy anything. What I like, YOU may not!
I DON'T have them all, but with my experience with the Incra, if the indexing plate is accurate in manufacturing, then it's price... and then the bells and whistles you may be after.
I have the incra miter unit. I love it! I replaced the OEM unit on my Delta Unisaw. My friend was so impressed he did the same. You can't go wrong. Money well spent. I also have other incra items. Get a catalog or go to their web site for the complete line.
