as stated above, i own the twin linear. i am trying to turn it into an edge jointer. i’ve only been able to do it once or twice. this is clearly a case of operator error, but i can’t figure out what to do. i went to john lucas’ website and followed his instructions and still can’t get it to work.
this is what happens. I make sure each one of the split fences is lined up flat, so the entire length is flat. then i line up the router bit with the fence. then i follow the Incra instructions. release the clamp, and put it into the “micro adjust” mode. then i release the forward knob (black) two turns. turn the forward “micro adjust” knob 1/64th, tighten everything and run the board against the fence. nothing. so i try again, adjust another 1/64th, tighten, still nothing. Once again, another 1/64th and tighten everything. Oh, great, it’s hitting the bit!! but wait, it’s now hitting the outfeed fence. try again, and again, and again, and again. still same result. the piece of wood i’m using as scrap is flat, i already checked that, so this set up should take off a uniform strip. it’s not working. I’m so frustrated, it’s beyond belief. I don’t own a jointer and have 25 bd ft of face frame to joint. any help would be greatly appreciated. thank you.

I have a Incra fence with all the bells and stuff.. If it is set up I can use it for jointing a edge..
First I threw the book away.. NOT saying you should..
I set up the in-feed and out-feed fence the same.. As in the same plane..
Using the wood I will use I set the bit for a 'light cut.. As in I do NOT cut off much at a time..
I will run the stick about 6 inches into the out-feed side ( I make sure ) that I hold the stick against the in-feed end and NOT let it press against the out-feed end..
I STOP the router.. leave the stick where it is.. Hell, clamp it if ya want to the in-feed fence.. I now move the out-feed fence to just 'kiss' the stick and lock it down..
Works for me...
I own the twin linear for some time now. The principle is very simple: Once you have both fences lined up and "zeroed" to the straight bit, you have to move the fence that is closer to you (infeed) to the right, so the only fence that is still lined up with the bit is the outfeed, in this case, the other fence. Very simple and believe, the joint is incredible flat, much better than a joiner ; even I own a joiner and I have it ready for use, I prefer the router method.
Good luck
Dang I do the other fence? and it works? What gives?I'll try your way.. Sounds OK!
