I would like to create an indented dovetail (1/2 blind), but don’t know if there are any jigs that can do this. The joint is for a drawer and would naturally sit back from the edge of the face. On the surface this seems easy, simply cut the dovetail slots deeper than the thickness of the drawer side and slide the pins all the way to the back of the slots. But I don’t know if there are any complications or any jigs that can handle this. Has anyone tried this? (I can’t find literature on this technique.)

David, are you asking about rabbeted dovetails for drawer sides? If so, the Leigh Jig instruction manual covers this in detail. Some of the other jigs, that cut both sides and front in one setup, accomplish this by sliding the template back the amount of the offset and taking a second cut.The ends of the drawer front are rabbeted first. Then there are other tools,ie.a chisel and mallet. PAT
*Check pages 57-59 of the current Woodcraft catalog. There you can see a graphic picture. They call one set shown,a butt chisel set.I`m not going to comment further.PAT.
