I have an old Stanley/Carter router – Type 4. The shaft that goes through the top of the router needs a ball bearing-type of holder for the shaft to rotate on. Apparently the “balls” of the ball bearing simply “floated” and was held in place with a type of snap ring.
Anyone know where I can get plans and/or parts for this router??
Thanks

Manuals highly unlikely but a good bearing supply house should be able to get an equivalent. I had some bearing replaced in an old Stanley/Carter router. It came with a floor model type router table that allowed the router to tilt and this was the original manufacturer. Seems like there aren't as many new things out there as most folks thought.

Thanks RickL,
I thought of that. I believe the bearing would need to be a pressed fit - albeit not a really high tolerance press, but a tight one. Would also need to have a fit lose enough for the shaft to turn. Thanks again..
