Hello; I am new here but thought I would give this a shot. I just bought an old Stanley plane and can’t seem to find one like it anywhere on the net. It is a chamfer/vgroove plane ( see pics ) without a model number on it. I do have more pics if you would need another angle or shot of it. Can anyone provide that and possibly a ballpark idea of what it is worth. I paid $20.00 US dollars for it ( I believe I got the big deal of the day too ). Any info on this great find would be appreciated, Thanks Bill

It's a core box plane. Sold one a few years ago but I can't remember what it was worth and prices aren't what they used to be.
Stanley core box #57 1/2. I guess they were primarily used by patternmakers. There's one for sale at this site. I'd say you got a great deal, even in that condition, but I don't think you'll be retiring off the proceeds. Maybe on the next one.

Stanly #57 core box planes
Stanley #57 core box planes bring in anywhere between $100 - $200 with one set of extensions.
Core box plane
It is in fact a patternmakers core box plane as the others have said. I would say you are lucky and I would rather have your version over the Stanley cast aluminum ones I've seen.
For me it would probably be used once in a life time, But would still love to one in the arsonal of tools.
At $20, you stole it ;-)
